Both are the same chemical, sodium carbonate, at the same purity. Light soda ash has a lower bulk density and is more reactive, dense soda ash is denser, less dusty, and easier to handle in bulk. Detergent and glass manufacturers typically prefer dense; some water treatment and chemical processing uses are fine with either.
It's classified as an irritant, not corrosive. It can cause eye and respiratory irritation, so standard handling calls for gloves, eye protection, and avoiding dust inhalation. It's not flammable and not classified as a dangerous good for transport.

In a sealed, moisture-proof container, away from direct sunlight and acids. It's hygroscopic, so an open or poorly sealed bag will absorb moisture and start caking.
